Comporta, before everyone else
The Alentejo coast is changing fast. What remains, and where to look.
Words by
Rafael Mendes

Twenty years ago Comporta was rice fields, fishermen’s huts and a single café. It is still all of those things, with some very good houses hidden between them.
Where to look now
The dunes south of Carvalhal and the pine forests around Melides are where the next decade will happen. Planning rules are strict, which is exactly why the best plots hold their value.
